12 Secrets of High-Performing Coaches

How to become a High Performing coach and tap into the power of process.

As coaches, most of us look at High-Performing Coaches and wonder how we can “get there” in our own lives. High-Performing Coaches impact High-Performing Coachesmore people, have more clients, experience more visibility, earn more revenue, and enjoy more abundance. I’m not speaking here about a Coach who has a false sort of Internet-only identity, but High-Performing Coaches who live fully, serve authentically, impact intelligently, and make a difference, year in and year out. They nail it, and they have fun doing it!

Everything that High-Performing Coaches do is something you or I can do, if we simply understand what they are doing, why they are doing it, and make consistent implementation choices. Here are some of the things High-Performing Coaches do, that you’ll want to add into your life and work, if you haven’t already.

1. They have a clear focus on a big picture.

This may seem obvious, but if you don’t have a clear goal or desire in mind, how will you know when you’ve gotten there? High-Performing Coaches have a clear vision for where they want to go.
High-Performing Coaches are guided in their daily practice by a sense in which they know exactly “who” they are seeking to serve, “how” they want to serve them, and “what” coaching products, programs, or services they seek to offer. This big picture guidance keeps them on track and on message.

2. Their big picture informs their little pictures.

High-Performing Coaches have a big picture, but also a series of little pictures that support the big picture. They recognize that a big dream absent specific little plans will probably be just a big dream in 5, 10 or 20 years, and so they create detailed and logical little pictures to help them achieve the big picture. High-Performing Coaches are consistent in the little steps which lead to big results!

3. They have positive mental frameworks.

High-Performing Coaches have incredibly positive mental frameworks. You will never meet a High-Performing Coach who is pessimistic, judgmental, negative, or critical. High-Performing Coaches understand that their attitude determines their altitude, and so they keep their attitude as elevated as they want themselves to actually be. They keep in mind that obstacles can be overcome, problems can be solved, adversity can be an opening, setbacks are temporary, and that their opportunities are as limitless as their minds.

4. They are creators.

High-Performing Coaches understand intuitively that before something manifests in the real-world, it gestates in the mental world. Before a thing is real in actuality, it impregnates in the realm of vision and possibility. High-Performing Coaches aren’t waiting for something to come to them, or for someone to give something to them, but they are using their imagination to create, dream, produce and build. High-Performing Coaches are proactive, take initiative, and get it done! And as they move forward, in authenticity and alignment, they attract all the abundance and fullness that they need.

5. They are time-management experts.

High-Performing Coaches understand that time is the one gift we’ve all received, that, once it is spent, never comes back. So they manage their moments with extreme excellence. They take extreme care with each minute, hour, and day. This speaks of common sense. High-Performing Coaches are on time, they complete projects on time, they stick to their commitments, and they have a priority list that looks like this:

  • Schedule In Non-Negotiable Essentials,
  • Schedule In Negotiable Essentials,
  • Schedule In Non-Negotiable Non-Essentials,
  • Schedule In Negotiable Non-Essentials

6. They are full of positive energy and passion.

Energy and passion is the stuff of life, resilience, and success. Positive energy and passion flows from a clear sense of purpose, and from a place of being aligned with your unique LIFEFIT. When you lose your why, you can honestly say, “Good-Bye”. A strong sense of “Why” flows from energy levels that consistently stay at their peak. High-Performing Coaches monitor their personal energy levels, and they do what it takes to regularly replenish their tank, so that they always have abundance to share.

7. They take time for Self-Care.

High-Performing Coaches take time for themselves. In their midst of their dreaming and doing, planning and processing, High-Performing Coaches understand the priority of Self-Care, but they also implement the practice of Self-Care. Understanding that when we cease to care for ourselves, burnout and frustration is around the corner, High-Performing Coaches care for and nurture themselves in a diversity of ways. Everything from regular sleep to nutrition, to exercise to meditation, to affirmations to visualization, to journaling to time with quality people, High-Performing Coaches take the time they need to care for themselves.

8. They don’t procrastinate.

High-Performing Coaches know what it is to engage the uncomfortable, the foreign, and the tasks they don’t like, and they don’t keep putting them off. Not all of the things we need to do in order to achieve our dreams are very fun, but High-Performing Coaches are able to focus on what needs to get done and do it, even when it’s disagreeable. They aren’t easily knocked off course by the unpleasant or low-profile roles we all need to fulfil in order to achieve the big picture and have long-term success.

9. They have great people skills.

High-Performing Coaches know that every relationship we have, and every connection we make, is part of the circle of life. Thus, they don’t burn bridges. They don’t throw people under the bus or say bad things about others. They genuinely care for people, and their authentic care causes them to be non-judgmental, safe, and progressive. High-Performing Coaches usually listen a lot more than they speak, and carry themselves with integrity.

10. They partner.

High-Performing Coaches know they can’t do everything themselves. They inherently understand their own limitations, and appreciate the strengths and contributions of others. They would far rather move forward with a team, than move forward alone. They have an eye for talent and capacity, and are good at attracting the right people to their teams, and fitting them into the right roles. R. Buckminster Fuller said that, “You can rest assured that if you devote your time and attention to the highest advantage of others, the Universe will support you, always and only in the nick of time.” High-Performing Coaches intuitively understand this, and are able to foster great relationships and build teams that can help them achieve what they want even faster.

11. They are resilient.

High-Performing Coaches understand resilience. Like the rest of us, they face obstacles and struggles, setbacks and failures. But High-Performing Coaches are tenacious, sticking to their dreams and visions and goals as long as they need to, in order to get where they need to go. High-Performing Coaches are great at bouncing back, taking a punch, and keeping on keeping on.

12. Their heart is to serve.

High-Performing Coaches intrinsically “get it”: We are here to serve one another. Life is not about the money you make, or the books you write, or the profile you create; but life is all about the people you serve. George Washington Carver said this: “How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.” High-Performing Coaches exhibit compassion, respect, deep care, and authentic service.

Becoming a High-Performing Coach is within all of our grasp. Personal growth and professional development is a PROCESS based on one simple principle: Our “inputs” define our “outputs”. When we invest in our own personal growth and professional development, we tap into the power of PROCESS and grow EXPONENTIALLY. The world needs more High-Performing Coaches. Do you want to grow and become a High-Performing Coach? Make sure you put in some inputs consistently. I am sure you want to, and have the tools to follow through!
