Fine-tune Your Hormones to Create Emotional Harmony

How many times have we used food, smoking, or drinking alcohol as emotional crutches for feeling anxious, upset, or unsettled? This is a human reaction that we have developed to cope, or insulate, ourselves from the external world we live in. Decades of scientific research has shown conclusively that hormones, biochemical secretions from glands that make up our endocrine system, are controlled by our perceived reality within our mind. Creating hormonal harmony will require us to pay close attention to our hormonal status by recognizing and maintaining awareness of the mind-body connection, especially through situations that trigger our particular defensive mechanisms.

Hormonal imbalances that affect the way we process information, react emotionally, and rely on self sabotaging habits can lead to illness or diseases when we allow our habits to run amok. Common symptoms consist of insomnia, allergies, cancer, arthritis, metabolic (thyroid) problems, stress (adrenal) burnout, reproductive health issues, headaches, easily fatigued, emotional or mental disorders, depression, or a tendency to gain or lose excessive weight. We can work with our bodies to create a hormonally healthy and harmoniously fit mind body and spirit that increases energy, mental acuity, and is anti- aging.

Let’s start by stopping the past from becoming the future! We are the product of our old, limited ways of thinking. Take a few deep breaths before continuing to read. This is about you taking control of your life again and becoming the creative, solution-oriented person you know you can be! Hormonal harmony and human harmony are interdependent states of consciousness that require a state of awareness and appreciation towards your inner self.

Eat a healthy simple diet consisting of non-genetically modified fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean, clean protein. Eliminate hormonally enhanced animal products and buy foods at the grocery store from the outer perimeter. There you will get the most nutrient dense foods. Low fat is not the way to go either! Eating oils and naturally fatty foods, in moderation, that are high in omega 3/6/9 with lean organic, highly digestible protein every few hours enable our bodies to manufacture hormones required for proper functioning of the mind, body, and emotions. Ensuring raw fruits and vegetables are consumed on a daily basis in relation to cooked foods eaten will put less stress on the body to produce digestive enzymes for digesting cooked foods and more emphasis on the body to create metabolic enzymes critical for energy and hormonal homeostasis, which is another way of saying harmoniously balanced body functioning.  

Study after study reports certain micronutrients greatly benefit the body by their protective effects against free radicals, toxins, chemicals, and foreign invaders that can disrupt the biological terrain within. Vitamins A, C, E, D, B complex, zinc, selenium, and gamma linoeic acid to name a few are highly regarded nutrients when it comes to their harmonizing effect on the endocrine system. Occasionally fasting when you have some downtime and have no need to be physically active and alert gives our body the well deserved break it needs to clear accumulated waste products that prevent our bodily systems from functioning optimally. During the first several-day fasts, have a health practitioner supervise the fast and, when necessary, eat raw fruit or vegetables during your water or fresh veggie juice fast. Frequent therapeutic uses of water internally and externally are time honoured traditions used in many households because for example it works to drink herbal tea or taking a long, hot bath for restorative purposes.

Circadian rhythm is a technical term that just means to live in a harmonious routine that mirrors the rhythms in nature. In establishing an equilibrium we will proactively choose to sleep, eat, work, relax, exercise, and rejuvenate ourselves daily so that if there are times when we cannot occasionally live up to our best life due to unplanned events then our nervous and endocrine systems can easily handle these times as long as you get back on track immediately. Releasing and relaxing the body through deep cleansing breaths, invigorating exercise, and meditation are essential tools for creating harmoniously brilliant health. Living on Purpose in Harmony with your spiritual beliefs and having resilient faith in your higher self and a higher power broadens the brushstrokes of your journey’s landscape. Creatively behold and manifest your journey by embracing your spiritually evolving self at every stage knowing harmony is the only way to know what your true purpose here is.
